The WS 120 TCU was supplied to Sifto Salt Inc. for
scaling the walls of their Goderich mine in Ontario,
Canada.
The Sifto Salt Corporation is one of the world's biggest
producers of salt. It operates three major underground
mining complexes in the UK, USA and Canada.
Goderich mine produces over four million tonnes of
salt every year. Room and pillar mining methods using
drill and blast techniques create galleries 18m by 18m
high.
Given the extreme height of these galleries, scaling
the walls to remove loose sections is absolutely essential
for mine safety.
The TCU unit was driven by a John Deere 992D-LC excavator
with two constant horsepower pumps, giving an available
power output to the twin cutting heads of up to 87 kW. |
